New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has vetoed legislation that would have limited ammunition magazines to 10 rounds.
Currently, the capacity is 15 rounds in New Jersey.
Supporters of the legislation claim it would reduce the likelihood and damage done by mass shootings, since a gunman would need to reload more often.
But Governor Christie claimed the measure is "reform in name only" and argued there’s no evidence this would combat mass violence.
"It simply defies common sense to believe that imposing a new and entirely arbitrary number of bullets that can be lawfully loaded into a firearm will somehow eradicate, or even reduce, future instances of mass violence," Christie said.
