Mayor Bill de Blasio says the city’s overall crime rate has fallen this year, despite a rash of shootings over the weekend.

More than 20 people were shot, including two people who were killed outside a deli in Harlem early Sunday morning.  Overall this year, shootings are up about 10 percent.

“Crime overall in the city is down over three percent compared to last year,” de Blasio said.

He also claimed there have been 26 fewer murders, as of Sunday night.

The NYPD is in the midst of a “Summer All Out” program, which redeployed officers to high-crime neighborhoods.  Overall, shootings in those areas are down, although some have seen a spike in gunfire.
