The NYPD is trying to make a statement by having a two day, city-wide crackdown on using cell phones while driving, says PIX11.
The police will be targeting drivers on cellphones and who are not yielding for pedestrians heavily on Tuesday and Friday.
This effort comes in attempt for strengthen Mayor Bill de Blasio's "Vision Zero" program, which is an initiative to reduce fatal traffic accidents. People who are stopped will have to pay a fine and receive 5 points on their drivers' licenses.
