Roger Logan has been released from prison, 17 years after he was convicted for a fatal shooting in 1997.

Logan was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, after Sherwin Gibbons was murdered during a dice game.  An eyewitness put Logan at the scene of the crime.  But a review shows the witness was in police custody at the time of the shooting.

Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson has been reviewing past convictions since taking office, many of which involved retired detective Louis Scarcella.  Seven of those convictions have already been overturned this year.

The Brooklyn D.A.'s office will reportedly stand behind a number of other convictions involving Scarcella.
