Really scary news coming out of Murrysville, Pennsylvania this morning. We’re hearing that several students were stabbed and as many as 20 were injured at Franklin Regional High School. The suspect hasn’t been id’ed but he’s reportedly in custody.
Earlier this week we talked about the police officers injured in a fire in an apartment building in Coney Island. This morning, one of those officers died from his injuries. 38-year-old Dennis Guerra died earlier this morning. 36-year-old Rosa Rodriguez is still in the hospital’s burn unit.
Searchers have picked up fresh pings in the search for Malaysian Airlines flight 370. On Saturday, an Australian team picked up pings but then lost them. Now, they’ve detected them again, all within 17 miles of each other. Officials are still advising people to hold off drawing conclusions until wreckage is found.
WWE superstar Ultimate Warrior has passed away. He died as he was walking to his car with his wife outside an Arizona hotel. He was only 54; no word yet on cause of death.
There’s been a huge online security breach and millions of people’s passwords, credit card info, and other personal information have been exposed to potentially being stolen. The threat is called “Heartbleed” and has been going on for two years but was only just detected. Experts are telling people to wait until their services tell them they’ve fixed the problem, and then people should change their passwords.
The UConn Huskies beat Notre Dame to become the NCAA Women’s Champions. The Huskies had an undefeated season.
And Chick-fil-A is trying to change their image. If you remember, back in 2012 they got a lot of blowback when the CEO, Dan Cathy, spoke out against gay marriage. Now, Cathy tells USA Today, quote, "All of us become more wise as time goes by. We sincerely care about all people." The food chain is also working to clean up their food, using better ingredients in the coming years.
And we told you yesterday later in the show about a nursing home in New York that had a male stripper come in to dance for the elderly residents. Now, the son of one of the residents is suing after he saw a pic of his mom putting dollar bills into the stripper’s underwear. The nursing home says the stripper was requested and approved by a panel of residents.
