Governor Nixon says that the state’s highway patrol would be taking over security in Ferguson. Meanwhile, President Barack Obama called on police to be “open and transparent” as they investigate Michael Brown’s shooting death. He also implored both the cops and the protesters to “take a step back and think” about their actions and scolded the cops for using excessive force.

Robin Williams was in the early stages of Parkinson’s when he died. His wife released a statement saying that his sobriety was intact and, quote, “he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson's disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly." Michael J. Fox, who famously struggles with Parkinson's, tweeted, "Stunned to learn Robin had PD. Pretty sure his support for our Fdn predated his diagnosis. A true friend; I wish him peace."
