Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced they’re “consciously uncoupling” after 10 years of marriage on Monday.
“We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been,” the two said in a statement posted to Gwyneth’s lifestyle site Goop.com.
E! News’ Ken Baker phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to explain a little more. “I think what’s significant is I haven’t seen this positive or civil or united of a separation since going back several years to when David Arquette and Courteney Cox split and almost immediately they seemed like they were best friends … and it never got ugly and I think that’s the direction they’re going.”
Ken adds that a source close to the couple — who are parents to Apple, 9, and Moses, 7, — tell E! News that “they grew apart and fell out of love … they realized they were more friends and not lovers and they just needed to move on.”
In other news, Ken also shed some light on the feud between Demi Lovato and comedian Kathy Griffin.
“What happened was Kathy Griffin was doing this Twitter Q&A and one of the tweeters asked, ‘Who was her least favorite celebrity?’ And she said, ‘Demi Lovato was probably the biggest [d***he] celebrity she’s ever met.’ And you know, Demi has like super hardcore fans so what happened was earlier this week they started deluging Twitter with death threats against Kathy for saying that so Demi had to actually step in and tell people to chill out,” Ken explains.
The threats were so bad, Ken says, “I can’t even repeat some of the stuff, people were going at Kathy.”
So what caused the funny woman to dislike the songstress?
“All we can find is that Demi was at a party with Kathy in the last few months and Demi apparently wasn’t nice to her and there’s a rumor out there Kathy called her Debbie and she took offense.”
