New York Restaurants Ordered To Close Due To Health Violations

New York City restaurants are constantly popping up or disappearing over the course of the year. However, this week there is a surprising amount of NYC restaurants being ordered to close due to health code violations. Some of these you may have found yourself eating at pretty recently... Here is a list of the places you will no longer be eating at and why! 

1. Red Egg

Where: 202 Centre Street 

Violation Points: 68

The Issues: live roaches present in facility's food and/or non food areas. Tobacco use, eating, or drinking from open container in food preparation, food storage or dishwashing area observed. Sewage disposal system in disrepair. 

2. Coco

Where: 33 St. Marks Place

Violation Points: 34

Issues: Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility's food and/or non-food areas. 

3. Vanessa's Dumpling

Where: 220 E. 14th street 

Violation Points: 44

Issues: Food worker does not use proper utensil to eliminate bare hand contact with food. Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility's food and/or non-food areas. Filth flies include house flies, little house flies, blow flies, bottle flies and flesh flies. Food/refuse/sewage-associated flies include fruit flies, drain flies and Phorid flies.

4. Di Fara Pizzeria

Where: 1424 Avenue J 

Violation Points: 46 

Issues: Cold food item held above 41º F. Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility's food and/or non-food areas. Food not protected from potential source of contamination during

storage, preparation, transportation, display or service. Harborage or conditions conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/or allowing vermin to exist.

5. Hunter Bar 888

Where: 4414 8th avenue

Violation Points: 36

Issues: No facilities available to wash, rinse and sanitize utensils and/or

equipment. Food contact surface not properly washed, rinsed and sanitized

after each use and following any activity when contamination may have

occurred. Proper sanitization not provided for utensil ware washing operation.
