Las Vegas Police have released the final report on the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States and it still leaves one question unanswered. Despite a ten-month investigation, officials still have no clue what caused the shooter to commit such a horrific act. Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo told the press that investigators were "able to answer are the questions of who, what, when, where and how," but despite the lengthy investigation they were still unable to determine "why Stephen Paddock committed this act."
Police interviewed 46 people during the investigation, including 11 friends and family members of Paddock. They described him as a narcissist who "only cared how relationships would benefit him." He had no political or religious affiliations and was known to fully invest in various hobbies, before giving them up after a short period of time.
Sheriff Lombardo said that Paddock had a "diminished mental state" but his doctor said that he never showed any "troubling behavior that would trigger a call to law enforcement."
Despite following 2,000 leads, sifting through 22,000 hours of video, and scouring over 252,000 images, investigators could find no evidence to indicate Paddock's motive.
Lombardo said that the FBI’s Behavior Analysis Unit is working to finalize a report on Paddock’s “psychopathology,” and expects it will be released in the coming months.
