The Best Places To Watch The New York City Marathon

The New York City Marathon is happening this Sunday, November 3rd in NYC and with that comes 50,000 runners crossing all five bouroughs for 26.2 miles. Along with that is the hundreds of thousands of people that come to cheer them on.

“On that day, you’ve got a million people cheering for you,” said Michael Capiraso, the president and chief executive of New York Road Runners, which organizes the marathon. “Someone’s going to pick you up along the way.” “We seriously need you,” he continues. “The inspiration and the impact from the people along the sides of the course is so invaluable.”

From the New York Times, they have mapped out the perfect spots to watch the parade as you can see below:

Where the runners need you the most:

  • Fourth avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn
  • East 138th Street in the Bronx
  • Marcus Gravey Park in Harlem

Where the parties are:

  • Fort Greene Brooklyn along Lafayette Avenue between Fulton Street and Bedford Avenue
  • First avenue in Manhattan between 59th and 96th streets

Make sure you know whoever your watching's start time is so you can gather when you can find them. The first runners begin at the start line at 8:30am and the last wave of runners won't start until 11am.
