Camila Cabello Explains Her Initial Uncertainty About Shawn Mendes Collab

What a difference a year makes.

This time at Z100's JingleBall last year, Camila Cabello told Danielle Monaro and Gandhi that while she had an opportunity for a collaboration with Shawn Mendes, she wasn't sure if it was going to happen.

This year at the Mercedes-Benz Interview Lounge, she had some explaining to do.

"I'm so happy," Camila said of that fateful collab with her boyfriend, Mendes. "Yeah, it's really so cool. Last year we were set on not doing the song together. This year... you know, it's happened."

Looking back on her reservations about a duet with Mendes, Camila said she changed her mind because she "couldn't get it out of my head."

After some much-needed family time for the holidays, Camila says she plans to get back on tour in the New Year.

As much as she loves seeing her parents and grandparents, Camila adds that touring presents a lot of unique opportunities for her to bond with other women like her.

"My favorite part of being on the road is getting to connect with my fans," she said. "When you're singing songs and seeing people sing them back to you...it really means a lot to me."

She continued: "I don't feel like I get to be around girls my age that much anymore."
