This Sunday, February 2nd, sports fans around America will gather to see the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the San Francisco 49ers at the Super Bowl. Although each team’s hometown is pretty far from New York City, there are still plenty of places where you can watch the game in all five boroughs.
Super Bowl Sunday is known for being one of the biggest days for eating and drinking throughout America. Football fans gather around to watch the highly anticipated Super Bowl commercials and the half time show performance.
Looking to celebrate outside of your home this year? We’ve rounded up the best bars where you can enjoy all the wings and beer your heart desires (with some extra fun like DJ sets, drink specials, drag shows and MORE!). Here are just some of the places you can catch the big game at this weekend in NYC:
For the fans of the high life: Monarch Rooftop in Herald Square
The usual Super Bowl celebration of huddling over chicken wings and cheap domestic beers might not be for everyone. If you’re looking for something fancier, the Monarch Rooftop, a glass-encased penthouse, not only offers views of the Empire State Building but also has views of the big game this Sunday! For only $25 you get access to the space to watch the game on five giant projector screens as well as an open bar of beer and wine for an hour before the game! Or, for the real high rollers, pay $340 for a table and get a game day food platter as well as a couple beers for each person in your party!
For fans who like their sports with a side of drag, games and dancing: The Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village
One of the most iconic bars in NYC, The Stonewall Inn isn’t typically known for its sports. But its Super Bowl celebration is a super Sunday Funday. It’s only $8 to enter beginning at 4pm, and the five-hour party includes drag shows, dancing, games, all hosted by the wonderful Miss Laila Gulabi.
For the Kansas City Chiefs fans: John Brown Smokehouse in Long Island City
If you’re a Chiefs fan, this Super Bowl means a whole lot to you. Looking to be around your fellow fans at this KC-style spot and enjoy a buffet of delicious BBQ while you cheer your team on! Be sure to get there early, you won’t be the only one with the idea.
For the fans looking to enjoy a cider on game day: Brooklyn Cider House in Bushwick
No shame in your cider game! Brooklyn Cider House, one of the first ciders in the city, will celebrate the big game with drink and food specials, including dollar chicken wings in three flavors, $29 pitchers of cider, and $11 three-cider flights. Enjoy the big game without doing a dozen light beers and having to spend half the night in the bathroom line.
For the fans looking to find someone special during the game: Windfall in Bryant Park
The Super Bowl is typically a fun, communal experience shared by friends with wings and beers in hand. But for those who don’t particularly care about the game, and don’t have a significant other to snuggle up on the couch with for the show, it can be kind of isolating. Windfall will host a special matchmaking event where singles can come together, place ice-breaker games, and maybe meet their special someone. And of course, you can watch the game in between topics.
