The Pennsy food hall right outside Penn Station in New York City will be closing on March 31, 2020.
Pennsy Food Hall has yet to make a statement however one of its vendors 'Cinnamon Snail' announced it on their Instagram saying they received a notice the entire food hall will be closing at the end of the month. A part of the post reads:
This Valentines is our 10 year anniversary, since I started running the food truck on Valentines Day 2010. Sadly, we recently got notice that the Pennsy food hall will be closing March 31st. With our big production kitchen in Brooklyn, other high overhead, and fast escalating costs of running a small food business in NYC, I have made the decision to pull the plug on The Cinnamon Snail entirely when the Pennsy closes its doors at the end of March.
The food hall opened in 2015, right next door to Madison Square Garden and Penn Station with dining and drinking options. It holds an outdoor beer garden and NYC staples like The Little Beet, Taco Dumbo and more!
According to a Commercial Observer report, the realty trust owns the space is “working on a $2 billion modernization of the neighborhood around Penn Station, which includes work on 2 Penn Plaza, which is being rebranded as Penn 2.” This includes expanding the first four stories of the building and adding more office space. As of now there are no plans to include The Pennsy returning to this area.
