Following AEG Worldwide's announcement earlier this week, Live Nation has joined the ranks of concert promoters, venue operators, and artists requiring proof of vaccination to see shows.
“Just a few weeks ago, we were optimistic about where our business, and country, were heading,” says COO Jay Marciano. “The Delta variant, combined with vaccine hesitancy, is pushing us in the wrong direction again.”
Live Nation will be following the model that proved successful with Lollapalooza.
“Vaccines are going to be your ticket back to shows,” Live Nation president and CEO Michael Rapino said in a statement toRolling Stone. “As of October 4th we will be following the model we developed for Lollapalooza and requiring this for artists, fans and employees at Live Nation venues and festivals everywhere possible in the U.S.”
Along with the promoters, artists including Japanese Breakfast, Bleachers, Maroon 5, The Killers, and the Foo Fighters have all announced that they'd require proof of vaccination to attend their shows.
