The Internet Reacts to Hurricane Ida Slamming Through NYC

After Hurricane Ida slammed the Gulf and Louisiana and sent remnants up north to batter New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, there are some excellent points to be made about our preparation for storms, climate change, and the viability of our infrastructure.

With Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and everything in between under flood warning for a majority of Wednesday night and Thursday morning, the most astounding result of the storm was how quickly subway tunnels and platforms took on water. It seems like even at the tiniest drop of rain lately, the subway quickly turns in to a white water rapids attraction...or even a scene out of Titanic.

Some also pointed out, the way most New Yorkers feel, that the MTA's skewed priorities for repairing and maintaining the transportation service contribute to problems like this.
