Cher is an icon who's accomplished just about everything there is to accomplish in entertainment. She has no reason to be nervous during any performance, but playing The Garden always winds her up.
Speaking to Elvis Duran backstage in the Mercedes-Benz Interview Lounge, Cher admitted that there's something about the World's Most Famous Arena that excites her like no other venue.
"This is my favorite place in the world to play, and I'm always terrified," she says. "Because it's just Madison Square Garden, and for me somehow that just clicked in once, and I'm so frightened and I always try to do a good job."
Perhaps adding to Cher's nerves was the Christmas theme of her set. She's never done Christmas music before, let alone performed it live.
"I didn't want to because I couldn't find it in myself," she says of the usual Christmas material. "I didn't want to do 'Frosty the Snowman,' I didn't want to do any of that. I wanted to have a good time ... and I wanted to make a Cher Christmas album."
