Calum Scott stopped by the studio to talk with Mo Bounce about some new music and his first trip to iconic Brit Awards. Scott was nominated for British Single of the Year for his smash hit "Dancing On My Own." While he was honored to be nominated at his first ever trip to the legendary awards show, he ultimately lost out to Little Mix. Instead of being put down by his loss, he said it inspired him to see his peers take home the award for "Shout Out To My Ex." Scott told Mo that it was encouraging to watch them win because "they've been in a couple years and they managed to win their first Brit, so I didn't take it hard at all. Of course, I would have loved to have won. But to see Little Mix up there after they've been graftin and graftin is more encouraging because hopefully that won't be my only shot at a Brit."
Scott was the only act at the Brits who only had one song out, so the 28-year-old singer isn't sweating it. He knows he's just starting out and that life is already pretty good for him. Scott, who was discovered on Britain's Got Talent in 2015, is determined to work even harder on his future music. His next single is set to be "Rhythm Inside", which he describes as a bit more up tempo than "Dancing On My Own."
He's excited to branch out and try new things musically, but doesn't plan on straying too far from his roots. We can't wait to see what he's got up his sleeve!
