Taco Bell Launches 'Veggie Mode' With 50 Meat-Free Menu Items

Taco Bell very well may be the most vegan/vegetarian-friendly food chain around, especially with their latest menu update. The chain will launch 'Veggie Mode' in their restaurants nationwide, which will see 50 new meat free items added to their menus. Here's everything you need to know about Taco Bell's latest vegetarian incentive.

Veggie Mode will make ordering a completely vegetarian meal at Taco Bell super easy. The new service will be available on Taco Bell's self-service kiosks. Guests will be able to activate Veggie Mode with a single swipe feature on the kiosks and unlock a completely meat-free menu.

As passionate Taco Bell fans know, the fast casual chain debuted their new vegetarian menu earlier this year. Veggie Mode includes all those menu items, however, it will also allow guests to swap out the meat for veggies in some of the most popular existing menu items. For example, the Beef 5-Layer Burrito transforms into the Layered Vegetarian Burrito once the menu goes Veggie mode.

Other Veggie Mode menu options include: Black Bean Chalupa Supreme, Black Bean Soft Taco, Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme, Black Bean Quesarito and more. Some pre-existing, vegetarian-friendly ingredients and menu items, such as Potato Bites, Chalupa shells, and Hash Browns, have also been added to the Veggie Mode menu.

"At Taco Bell, we believe that vegetarian food shouldn’t be a compromise; it shouldn’t be limited to one item, and it shouldn’t be just for vegetarians,” global chief food innovation officer Liz Matthews said in a statement. "For years, we’ve consistently proven that our vegetarian menu options are so craveable that even non-vegetarians unknowingly go veggie because they just love the taste. We’re committed to building on this insight and plan to further innovate in this growing space."

Taco Bell's Veggie Mode menu will go live at locations nationwide on their self-service kiosks beginning on March 12, 2020. Will you be giving Veggie Mode a try?
