Well, heâs done it.
Kanye West officially announced that he will be running for president in the 2020 election.
On Saturday (July 4), the rapper used Independence Day to reveal the (un)surprising news on Twitter. âWe must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States đșđž!â the 43-year-old tweeted last night with the hashtag â#2020Vision,â which appears to be Yeâs slogan for his presidential campaign. (Weâll admit, itâs pretty catchy.)
Call the âBlack Skinheadâ emcee crazy if you want, he has his supporters.
Among those who reacted to Yeâs presidential bid include wife Kim Kardashian, Tesla magnate Elon Musk, and plenty of others â whose responses were⊠interesting, to say the least.
Kim simply shared an American Flag emoji in support of her husband, whereas Musk rooted for the rapper, writing, âYou have my full support!â
Others, like Tiffany Haddish and Paris Hilton, took Yeâs announcement in jest.
âWe must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I too am running for president of the United States đșđž! #2020VISIONâ wrote Haddish, as Hilton retorted, âPARIS FOR PRESIDENT âšđșđžđžđŒâšâ
The âStrongerâ musicianâs presidential campaign announcement shouldnât come as a surprise.
As some fans may recall, Ye actually used his appearance at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Festival to allude to his bid while singing âOnly One,â in which he slipped in the lyrics, âYouâll be the man you always knew you could be â 2020.â
