Oh Glee, you were a pop culture staple of the 2010âs with you covers of popular songs and stories about teenage angst.
Is it too soon to rewatch the entire show? We donât think so, and neither do former cast members Kevin McHale (âArtie Abramsâ) and Jenna Ushkowitz (âTina Cohen-Chang"). The pair have teamed up once again to rewatch the musical TV show and discuss it on their new podcast And That's What You REALLY Missed.
âYou berated us, you reached us on every social media platform, and we tried to ignore it, but here we are,â said McHale. âJenn and I have a plan for this version. We are going in-depth, we are going to be very open, we're not going to sugarcoat, we are going to talk about everything.â
âThanks for coming back,â Ushkowitz added. âWe are here with you, and we are excited to revisit this with new, new eyes.â
While there has been a lot of bad press surrounding the production of Glee, both actors maintain there was also a lot of joy and love that went into the show. In the podcastâs two-part premier, the hosts interview Glee showrunner Ryan Murphy.
âYou know Iâve never really talked about Glee, or the making of Glee,â he said. âThis is going to be a really intensive therapy session.â
Though several episodes in, the podcast has already brought back several former Glee cast members like Chris Colfer who discussed his role as âKurtâ and how it helped him discover himself as an individual. Jennifer Aspen joined the podcast for an episode where she reveals she was turned down for the show only to later be cast as âKendra Giardi,â sister-in-law of "Will Schuester.â Finally, Heather Morris drops by on the showâs most recent episode to talk about the crazy time she had playing âBrittany S. Pierce.â
