Researchers at the University of Tsukuba say that mice need more or less sleep in their days depending on the presence of one gene. When researchers altered the gene, they noticed differences in the mice’s necessity for a good, long nap. But that’s just the mice – what about people? People have genes that cause them to need more or less sleep, depending on how much of the gene is present.
In the US, one in three adults aren’t getting enough sleep. That’s a lot of nappers! If you’re one of those people that needs a nap in their days to keep them going, the optimal time to take advantage is 3pm. Get napping, folks!
