Taylor Swift dropped her new song “You Need To Calm Down” on Friday, and it could be her most political song yet. In the song she is clearly supporting the LGBTQ community, and fans are totally down with it (check out reactions below).
Released during Pride month, the song includes the lyrics, "You are somebody that we don't know / But you're comin' at my friends like a missile/ Why are you mad when you could be GLAAD?,” and “control your urges to scream about all the people you hate / 'Cause shade never made anybody less gay."
And to show her continued support, Taylor actually made a surprise appearance this weekend at NYC's Stonewall Inn, where “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson was performing in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. Taylor performed an acoustic version of “Shake it Off,” explaining that she heard it was Ferguson’s favorite Karaoke song.
