The Best Met Gala 2017 Looks That Actually Followed The Theme

The Met Gala is one of my favorite nights of the year for fashion. It's the one night that everyone can be a walking art piece and pay tribute to a dope theme! This year there were tons of great looks, but a surprising amount of people did NOT follow the theme. So this best dressed list is for those who did, if you didn't, sorry about it! Check out the best outfits that stuck to the theme of the night which was avant garde, inspired by Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons

 Janelle Monae

This look was beautiful, and payed tribute to the theme with it's architectural collar and huge gown.

This amazing dress honored the designers unique use of texture and shape with this crazy yet stunning black gown that was covered in spike like details.

Laura Osnes

This dress is a great blend of the theme of the night while staying modern and sexy. The top is very simple, but features some texture that the designer is known for and the pink bottom of the gown very much so mirrors the unusual shapes that Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons are known for.

Zendaya slayed the night with a huge gown with covered beautiful artistic details that I'm sure Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons would approve of. The use of color and design, along with her general beauty made this a huge stand out of the night.

Katy Perry

Co-chair to the Met Gala this year, Katy rocked a custom piece by the night's designer, so obviously she slayed the theme. Katy has been rocking a totally new style this year, and last nights red gown and veil were stunning. She rocked a headpiece that read "Witness", (KP4 hint?) and even her after the event looked was jaw dropping with pink leather chaps and a sparkly cape. Props KP.

Cara Delevingne

Slightly far from the theme, but Cara's look was so avant garde and shocking it was totally worth this list. The texture on the jacket went with the theme, and man that silver hair she has going on is so fantastic.

Ugh, of course she slayed it this year. Rihanna is becoming known as the queen of The Met Gala and for good reason. She wore a stunning dress right off the fall 2016 runway of the designer being honored with the night's theme, and everything was just perfect. She wore something architectural, textured, but also flattering. Go Riri!
