On the eve of performing at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball hosted by KIIS FM, Ed Sheeran and a fellow music industry heavyweight delivered a holiday surprise for their passionate fan bases.
Sheeran teamed up with Beyoncé for a duet of the singer-songwriter's romantic ballad "Perfect", which was unveiled Thursday evening. Naturally, the performance was met with an immense positive reception, and is already gaining traction as one of the winter's hottest wedding songs.
Before taking the stage for his opening set at Jingle Ball, Sheeran caught up with Elvis Duran to discuss the duet. During the interview, Sheeran reveals that Beyoncé didn't charge him a dime for her appearance, and explains his decision to make one of the top hits from his Divide album a duet.
"I did it with her, and I did it without her," he said. "You get the best of both worlds."
Sheeran would also go on to discuss his 2017 journey, and what this year has meant to him.
"It was just the next sort of stepping stone," Sheeran said. "I know it sounds boring, but it just feels like I'm a little bit further toward the end goal and dream. I'm now doing stadiums next year, which I've never really done in America before."
