The Best Segments In Late Night Television

With how popular late night talk show segments have grown to be over the past few years, we decided to put together a list of some of our favorites. Admittedly, it was not easy to pick just one segment from each show, but if we had to pitch to you a reason to start watching each late show, these would probably be the first that come to mind.

Late Night with Seth Meyers: Day Drinking

Emmy Award-winning writer and one of the 2014 TIME 100, Time magazine's 100 most influential people, Seth Meyers has found his way into a hilarious segment on his late night show where he day drinks with celebrities. On the most recent airing of this new late-night segment, Meyers got wasted with Season 1 American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. Between the awful sounding The Voice- and American Idol-themed drinks made of everything from hot sauce and vodka to Seth screaming Kelly's "Since U Been Gone", you are going to be begging for more.

Conan: Clueless Gamer

Even if you are not a video game fanatic, you will still be able to enjoy watching Conan O'Brien reviewing games from Grand Theft Auto V to Minecraft. On occasion, Conan will have a celebrity guest join him to play the game with him. You might have already seen him play Mortal Combat X with Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch and New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, but if you haven't, you are in for a treat.

The Late Late Show with James Corden: Carpool Karaoke

Arguably the biggest late show segment on TV right now, James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" has become so popular that Apple Inc. bought the worldwide rights to it in 2016, which premiered in August 2017 for Apple Music subscribers. The segments, which have featured artists such as Justin Bieber, Sia, Ed Sheeran, Carrie Underwood, Sam Smith, Chris Martin from Coldplay, One Direction, and Selena Gomez, among many others, have become viral videos on The Late Late Show's YouTube channel. The segment featuring Adele managed to gain over 42 million views within 5 days and reaching over 177 million views as of February 2018.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: Wheel of Musical Impressions

The Tonight Show has a wide variety of popular recurring segments, which didn't make this decision any easier. However, when you hear Jaime Foxx sing the Toys "R" Us Jingle as John Legend, Alessia Cara rap "The Fresh Prince of Bel-air" as Nicki Minaj, and Ariana Grande sing "The Wheels on the Bus" as Christina Aguilera, it's hard to put it behind anything else. Plus, you got to give it up to Jimmy Fallon keeping up with each musically talented star that comes through to play this game with him.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: Figure-It-Out-A-Tron

Stephen Colbert has taken his opportunity to host a late night show in a dominating fashion. After hosting the satirical Comedy Central program The Colbert Report from 2005 to 2014, Colbert succeeded David Letterman as the host of The Late Show on September 8, 2015. While the show has a much stronger political focus than David Letterman's late show, it still manages to bring forth hilarious entertainment for its viewers. While the "Figure-It-Out-A-Tron" is more of an add-on and not it's own standing segment, you know it's going to be a great show when you see a chalkboard getting wheeled out on set.

Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update with Colin Jost and Michael Che

Saturday Night Live might not be a late night talk show, but we can't help but give some love to "Weekend Update." Between Colin Jost's and Michael Che's comedic delivery of news updates and the random guest appearances by SNL cast members, it is no wonder that "Weekend Update" had its own series for a short time this summer. According to NY Daily News, Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment, stated that "SNL is having its best season in a quarter of a century" — how many shows can say that?!" Robert continued to say that they "didn't want them to take the summer off." We couldn't be more appreciative of your decision, Mr. Greenblatt.
