Winter Storm Stella is upon us and many of us are cooped up inside with not much to do. Since 2017 kicked off, a bunch of amazing new books have been published. This snow day is the perfect opportunity to pick up your Kindle, Nook, iPad, or even your smartphone and download a good book to snuggle up with. Here are 5 new books that we recommend:

1) The Hate U Give - Angie Thomas

This novel followers 16-year-old Starr Carter after she witnesses the fatal shooting of her best friend at the hands of the police officer. As the only witness to the shooting, Starr finds herself in the middle of a storm. Even though this book just came out, it's already being turned into a film. Amandla Stenberg will play Starr. 

2) The Amateurs - Sara Shepard 

This novel inspired by true crime entertainment is written by the woman who brought you the Pretty Little Liars Series. It follows an 18-year-old amateur detective as she tries to solve a murder that happened years ago. Now, though, Seneca might have caught the eye of the person she's trying to find. 

3) All Grown Up - Jami Attenberg

This is the story of a woman having an identity crisis at age 39 in New York City. It's honest, real, funny, and heartbreaking. You won't want to put this one down. 

4) The Fall of Lisa Bellow - Susan Parabo

After Meredith watches as a girl from her 8th grade class is abducted by a masked man in broad daylight, she has to figure out how to live with what has happened to her and what happened to Lisa. Goodreads describes this novel as "edgy and original, a hair-raising exploration of the ripple effects of an unthinkable crime. It is a dark, beautifully rendered, and gripping novel about coping, about coming-of-age, and about forgiveness. It is also a beautiful illustration of how one family, broken by tragedy, finds healing."

5) White Tears - Hari Kunzru

White Tears is one of the most highly anticipated novels of 2017. It's being described as a ghost story, murder mystery, and a timely meditation race. It just came out today, so if you download this today you'll be ahead of the curve!
