Selena Gomez opened to Vogue Magazine about what it's like to be the most followed person on Instagram. It turns out, though, that Selena isn't running her own account. "As soon as I became the most followed person on Instagram, I sort of freaked out. It had become so consuming to me. It's what I woke up to and went to sleep to," the 24-year-old entertainer revealed. "I was an addict, and it felt like I was seeing things I didn't want to see, like it was putting things in my head that I didn't want to care about. I always end up feeling like s--t when I look at Instagram."
Her account is still regularly updated. She even posted the photos from her Vogue cover shoot to her account. So if it's not Selena doing the posting, who is? She revealed she handed over the keys to her social media kingdom to her trusted assistant. Selena has since deleted the app from her phone.
Selena opened up her decision to distance herself from social media. "People so badly wanted me to be authentic, and when that happened, finally, it was a huge release," she said. "I'm not different from what I put out there. I've been very vulnerable with my fans, and sometimes I say things I shouldn't. But I have to be honest with them. I feel that's a huge part of why I'm where I am."
