When Does Smorgasburg 2018 Open?

Even though it may not feel like Spring has arrived yet, a bunch of fun outdoor activities are starting up all around the city over the next few weeks. One of the most popular things to do on a sunny Saturday afternoon when you live in or around New York City, is visit Smorgasburg in East River State Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. If you've been looking forward to the popular outdoor bazaar's return and wondering when Smorgasburg 2018 opens, I have some really good news for you. It's opening sooner than you think.

Smorgasburg will open it's doors for foodies on Saturday, March 31, so, get ready to eat some seriously delicious food this weekend. There's nothing like the promise of hitting the park and trying out a bunch of interesting foods and drinks to keep hope alive that warm weather is coming. According to Time Out, there are more than 100 vendors setting up shop at Smorgasburg this year. In other words, it's time to eat.

If you've been a frequent Smorgasburg visitor in the past, there will still be a ton of new things for you to try when the the food bazaar opens its doors this weekend. You can go back for classics like the Wowfulls waffle cones, as well as the new and exciting options.

Here are some of the tastiest looking new vendors coming to Smorgasburg in 2018.

Big Mozz x DO

The hottest collab of the summer isn't from your favorite music artists. No, it's happening at Smorgasburg. The Smorgasburg staple Big mozz, the mozzarella stick stand, has partnered with DO, the edible cookie dough company, to create an un-missable deep friend cookie dough. According to Time Out, "each piece of cookie dough is battered and deep fried, creating a warm crispy shell with a melty, gooey middle." I'm drooling already.

Lobsterdamus

Come hungry if you're planning on diving into a dish from Lobsterdamus, a staple at Smorgasburg Los Angeles. This mouthwatering vendor grills whole lobsters, which are topped with garlic butter, lemon and parsley, and served over noodles. As if that wasn't enough, they will also be serving lobster truffle fries and lobster nachos.

Bread & Monkey

A new banana bread stand will be debuting at Smorgasburg this year. The bread has been described as "moist and not too sweet" by Time Out and comes in a banana chocolate chip flavor, as well. The most interesting thing about this stand isn't the bread, though, it's the person behind it. Jack Greenleaf is just a high-school freshman, but he's sure to take Smorgasburg by storm with his delicious banana bread.

Ya Ya Noodz

You can sign me up for the szechuan rice noodles steamed and rolled with fillings like shrimp, pork, or butternut squash right now. Ya Ya Noodz is the brain child of the Brooklyn-based creators of  Mexican pop-up El Super Brooklyn, the fried anchovy vendor Bon Chovie and the Baked Bean bakery.

Bonsai Kakigori

While it may not be hot in New York City just yet, it's bound to get bright and sunny during the summer months. When this happens, you'll want to grab a fluffy Japanese shaved ice from Bonsai Kakigori at Smorgasburg. The delicious treat is flavored with housemade syrups and toppings.

Happy eating!
