President Trump Offers To Meet With Iranian President Rouhani

President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump made a surprise statement during a press conference outside of the White House with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. Trump was asked whether he would be open to meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and he said that he would be.

“I would certainly meet with Iran if they wanted to meet. I don’t know if they’re ready yet.”

Trump said that "if they want to meet, I’ll meet, anytime they want," and added that he would be willing to set up the meeting with "no preconditions."

The statement comes one week after Trump tweeted an all-caps threat to the Iranian president.

To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!
