Vampire Weekend & Danielle Haim Cover 'The Boys Are Back in Town'

It's safe to say Vampire Weekend had some fun during their set at Fuji Rock Festival in Yuzawa, Japan on Sunday (July 29). The indie rockers brought out Haim singer/guitarist Danielle Haim to perform a carefree cover of Thin Lizzy's 1976 hit "The Boys Are Back in Town."

Danielle sang the verses while VW vocalist Ezra Koenig helped out during the chorus. She and the band's guitarist Brian Robert Jones wailed the iconic guitar riff perfectly in sync. The band shared a clip of the guitarists practicing backstage before the set on Instagram. Footage of the performance was also filmed.

Back in May, Vampire Weekend re-launched their Instagram account after five years of silence and also revamped their website, which currently just says “VAMPIRE WEEKEND” in black block letters on a white, static background, with upcoming tour dates listed below.

Does this mean new music's coming soon? In September of 2017, Koenig revealed via Twitter that the new album is 80% done, lamenting that the last 20% is always the hardest. He also hinted on Instagram that the new album will be titled Mitsubishi Macchiato. This will be the first album released by the band without founding member Rostam Batmanglij. He left the group in 2016 to pursue solo endeavors.
