Chrissy Teigen may not be as secure in her post-baby body, but that didn’t stop her from showing it off for a greater good.
On Monday (July 30), the mom-of-two took to social media to reveal her new "mom bod" — nearly ten weeks after she welcomed her son, Miles — and to share a message with her fans about unhealthy body comparisons.
“I guess these just aren’t going to go away,” she said via Instagram Story as she gave a close up of her stretch marks while wearing nothing but bikini bottoms. “This is my new body.”
Chrissy later tweeted that she sometimes gets caught up in the negative side of Instagram by comparing herself to other women on the social media app. “Instagram is crazy,” the Lip Sync Battle co-host wrote. “I think it’s awesome people have killer bodies and are proud to show them off (I really do!!) but I know how hard it can be to forget what (for lack of a better word) regular ol’ bodies look like when everyone looks bonkers amazing.”
She added: “also I don’t really call this “body confidence” because I’m not quite there yet. I’m still super insecure. I’m just happy that I can make anyone else out there feel better about themselves!”
The Cravings cookbook author has long been a champion of body positivity. In 2015, before she even became a mom, she showed off her “stretchies” in an effort to normalize stretch marks. Then after welcoming her daughter, Luna, she explained how “real” women shouldn’t feel the same pressure to “snapback” after having a baby.
"Anyone in the public eye, we have all the help we could ever need to be able to shed everything," Chrissy said on the Today show. "We have nutritionists, we have dieticians, we have trainers, we have our own schedules, we have nannies… People get this jaded sensation that everybody is losing it so quickly, when in reality we have people who make it possible for us to get back into shape.”
Chrissy and her husband John Legend are currently vacationing with their family in Bali.
