A Texas mother is defending her actions after video captured her pulling out a gun and pointing it at a teenager who tried to intervene in a fight between the woman's daughter and another girl. Veneisha Jones heard the commotion and grabbed her phone to film the fight between her niece and Chade Lockett's daughter. During the brawl, a third girl tried to intervene and Lockett pulled out a gun and pointed it at the girl, trying to chase her away.
"She pulled a gun out on us. We were frightened for our lives. My niece was basically out there getting harmed by an adult. She's 15. The girl is 13. They're both teens, they fight and get into it. That's what teens do, but the mom, she had no reason to put her hands on her or anything like that," Jones told ABC13.
Tracy McIntyre claimed that Lockett hit her granddaughter repeatedly in the face with the gun.
Lockett is telling a different story and says she was just trying to defend her own daughter against the girls, who she claims were armed with knives.
“When I see knives ... what are you going to do? I'm going to defend myself and my daughter,” Lockett said to KPRC.
Lockett explained the gun wasn't even real, it was her son's BB gun.
“I went back to the car to get the BB gun when I saw they had knives. It was either the crowbar or the BB gun. I chose the BB gun. It looked realistic. It was 15 of them and two of us,” Lockett said.
McIntyre filed a police report about the incident, but Lockett maintains that she did nothing wrong.
"I'm doing what a mother should do, which is protect your child. Y'all trying to make it seem like y'all didn't do anything."
