The Queen Told Prince Harry That He & Meghan Markle Are 'Always Welcome'

Members Of The Royal Family Attend Events To Mark The Centenary Of The RAF

Queen Elizabeth may not be thrilled that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down as full-time working royals, however, she wants her beloved grandson to know he's still a cherished part of her family. While back in London for his final royal engagements before officially stepping down, Prince Harry attended a four hour lunch at Windsor Castle with his grandmother.

According to The Sun, Her Majesty and Prince Harry had a lengthy heart-to-heart about what's being referred to publicly as "Megxit." The Queen reportedly wanted to talk with Harry about the situation without his father, Prince Charles, or brother, Prince William, present. A source told the outlet that Queen Elizabeth told her grandson that he and Meghan are "much loved and will always be welcomed back" if they decided to resume their official roles within the House of Windsor.

When reached for comment on the four hour lunch by Insider, however, a spokesperson from Buckingham Palace refused to comment because the meeting wasn't official palace business. Instead, it was simply a lunch between a grandmother and her grandson. The spokesperson explained they wouldn't comment on how members of the royal family spend their time.

“The Queen had a lot to talk to Harry about and this was the ideal time for them to both say their piece," the source continued. “When Harry and Meghan announced they wanted to quit it all happened very quickly and it was very stressful for all concerned. Sunday was the first time the Queen has had the chance to talk to Harry on his own and really find out what his plans are. It was a much more relaxed environment and they were both able to speak their mind.”

Hopefully, Her Majesty and Prince Harry enjoyed their time together over weekend. Everybody knows it's nice to catch up with their grandparents when they get the chance.
