French Bulldog From 'Modern Family' Passed Away After Filming Series Finale

ABC's "Modern Family" - Season Seven

This is so sad.

Modern Family‘s star French bulldog Stella has unexpectedly passed away, according to The Blast. While Stella was the adorable pup's name on the show, the French Bulldog was called Beatrice IRL. The Blast reports Beatrice died just a few days after Modern Family wrapped the final season of the show. Beatrice was represented by the Good Dog Animals agency, who have not yet confirmed the Frenchie's passing.

Beatrice has starred as Stella on Modern Family since season four when she replaced her predecessor, Brigitte, who starred on the show for the first three seasons. Just like on the show—Stella is family patriarch Jay Pritchett's beloved pet—actor Ed O'Neill was particularly fond of Beatrice. “Ed O’Neill is in love with her! It’s very easy working with him because he brings Beatrice treats like popcorn and always looks out for her,” Beatrice’s owners Guin and Steve Solomon spoke with the blog, Bodie on the Road. “We’ll be doing scenes in the backyard by the pool and in between takes he’ll say, ‘Would you please get Beatrice an umbrella, she’s in the sun!’ “

The Blast reports Beatrice passed away about a week ago, shortly after Modern Family finished filming the series finale. As of now, none of the cast members have commented on Beatrice's passing.

Rest in peace, Beatrice.
