It's Official: Lorde's Onion Ring Instagram Page Made A 'Crumb Back'

If you need something to talk about over awkward family dinner this season, you might want to consider Lorde's newly-resurrected Instagram page for onion rings.

The New Zealand pop star recently jumpstarted @onionringsworldwide in which she rates fast food from different restaurants. "Don't call it a crumb back…," she captioned a photo of some crispy rings in a paper bag over the weekend and that was just the beginning. Later on, she continued to share more onion rings from the Crusty Crab in Russell and Ferburger in Queenstown, which varied in ratings from 3.5 to 4.5 out of 5 stars.

As you know, Lorde launched the account in May 2017, before owning it during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The account only had four posts before the star decided to put the passion project on hold for a three-year hiatus. "I sort of naively didn't realize that it would be a thing, that I was going to different places and trying the onion rings at each of those places," she said at the time. "I feel like it reads like the kind of thing a pop star would do to look relatable, which I wasn't! It was a funny thing with my friends on the tour and I was like, 'This is a good pastime.'"

Over the weekend, Lorde explained why she decided to hault the account. "I’ve got to be honest with you, this reviewer stopped ordering onion rings after her identity was leaked to the press in the great debacle of 2017," she told followers in a separate post. "I’d get a smile and a wink from waitstaff— it got embarrassing, you know? But it occurred to me that some things are too good to let the internet spoil."

Aside from sharing her onion ring reviews, the star is prepping the release of a new photo book, Going South, which inspired her upcoming album. Click here for more on that!
