Over the last 6 years or so, tensions between politicians and the press have run exceptionally high. Sometimes reaching a fever pitch and spiraling into something unbecoming of the US.

In one of his first major on-camera blunders, President Biden was caught on hot mic calling a reporter a "stupid son of a b****."

The name-calling came as a press event was coming to a close and reporters were exiting the room. Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked President Biden a question about inflation and the Commander in Chief had a rather sarcastic answer for him.

Heads up, there's some language in this video.

Here's a transcript of the exchange:

Doocy: "Will you take questions on inflation? Do you think inflation is a political liability?"
Pres Biden: "No, it's a great asset. More inflation. [all very sarcastically] What a stupid son of a b****."

Twitter erupted with reactions to the gaffe all day Monday with many users drawing comparison to former President Trump's demeanor, arguing that some held a double standard for the two leaders.

Language!

The New York Post reports as of Monday night that President Biden reached out to Doocy later in the day to "clear the air."

Doocy told Sean Hannity that Biden called him on his cellphone and told him "it's nothing personal." When asked if the President offered and apology, Doocy said it one wasn't needed. "I appreciated it. We had a nice call. I don't need anybody to apologize to me. He can call me whatever he wants as long as it gets him talking."

The blunder also triggered some comments from people in other countries about what we consider inappropriate language in the United States.
