It's not often you hear a story like this out of NYC, a city that has a reputation for being cutthroat and unforgiving. But it looks like humanity won this week when a tourist accidentally lost some cash in one of the busiest parts of Manhattan.

Eduardo Martinez dropped his wallet in near Broadway and W49th Street in Times Square while rushing to work. But instead of a few gift cards, a credit card, or a metro card being in the wallet...it was packed with $4,000 cash. How do you fit that much cash in a wallet? I don't know!

He came back to the area later that day to look for it when police nearby noticed him searching frantically. They had been given the wallet by a woman who was also commuting through the area that morning and found it on the ground.

After matching up identification, Martinez got his wallet and, incredibly, all $4,000.

NBC News reports that Martinez said that he's glad there are still honest people out there and that he is very grateful to the woman and the police for getting his wallet back.
