Winter Storm Could Drop More Than 4 Inches Of Snow In NYC Friday

A winter weather advisory is in effect for New York City, Long Island, western Connecticut and most of New Jersey through Friday evening.

Between 2 and 4 inches of snow is expected for much of the Tri-State area, with as much as 6 inches possible for central New Jersey.

The winter weather advisory for NYC is set to expire at 7 p.m., with the advisory for New Jersey is set to expire at 10 p.m.

A travel advisory was also in effect for the city, with alternate side parking rules suspended (meters will remain in effect).

Snow was expected to begin falling after 10 a.m. Friday in the NYC-area, with high temperatures near 30 degrees. Wind chill, however, will make it feel more like 20.

The precipitation should peter out late Friday evening, with temperatures dropping to around 20.

Temperatures will remain below freezing all weekend with Saturday expected to be cloudy with highs around 24. Sunday will be clear and sunny with highs near 30.
