Thomas Markle, the estranged father of Meghan Markle, has been released on bond following his arrest on child pornography charges. A federal judge in Florida granted bond for the 82-year-old, allowing him to return to a senior care home in Lakeland. Prosecutors and defense attorneys agreed that Markle is not a flight risk. He will be subject to electronic monitoring and restricted to travel within central Florida and the California district where his case will be heard, according to UPI.

Markle faces charges of possessing child sexual abuse material found in two Los Angeles storage units. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California stated that the material included explicit photographs of Markle with victims. Markle denies the allegations, which his daughter, Meghan Markle, called "deeply distressing" in a statement last month.

The FBI arrested Markle after receiving information from his son, Thomas Markle Jr., who reported finding the material in his father's home in Cebu, Philippines. The Los Angeles storage facility, rented since 2008, contained about 78 items, including slides, film negatives, and books with child sexual abuse material, The News International reported.

If convicted, Markle could face up to 20 years in prison. The case highlights the importance of public vigilance in reporting suspected exploitation, as emphasized by FBI Director Kash Patel.
