NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio is working with legendary music executive Clive Davis to help bring together artists for a mega concert to celebrate New York City’s reopening.
No artists have been announced for the show, which is set for August 21st. According to a New York Times article, Clive Davis said he is aiming for eight “iconic” artists to perform a three-hour show for 60,000 attendees and a worldwide television audience at Central Park.
Mayor de Blasio wants the concert to be part of a “Homecoming Week” gimmick as part of the reopening of New York City. “This concert is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he said. “It’s going to be an amazing lineup. The whole week is going to be like nothing you’ve ever seen before in New York City.”
