Camila Cabello Says 'Havana' is the Highlight of Her Career

Camila Cabello stopped by Z100 to speak about her new smash hit 'Havana,' as well as some other exciting career opportunities for the 20-year-old singer.  Fresh off a killer performance on both The Today Show and The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Cabello is making it known that she is a force to be reckoned with as a solo star. It's hard to believe that only ten short months ago, Cabello announced her departure from Fifth Harmony and started her journey as a solo artist. Now with a few of her own songs already out in the world, Cabello says 'Havana' is the highlight of her career so far. We can't say that we disagree.

For Cabello, who was born in Havana, Cuba, the song holds a special place in her heart. Watching people resonate with the song, she says, has been the stand out moment of her solo career.  While seeing how people have responded so positively to 'Havana' has been rewarding for Cabello, the 20-year-old songstress didn't shy away from talking about how difficult the song was to create. She revealed the song was rewritten about five times before it was finished and that it took months to get it exactly right. This track was most definitely worth the wait.

Cabello has remained pretty tight lipped about when her debut solo album will be released after announcing it was going to be pushed back. Just like with 'Havana,' Cabello says she doesn't want to release the album until she knows that it's truly ready. Cabello says she's never felt regret over a song she's released because she takes her time on the creation process before releasing it as a final product. "I take my time, you know what I mean? You always feel when something is wrong or when it could have been better," Cabello explained. "That's the worst feeling."

Cabello's passion and attention to detail in her music is part of the reason it's so easy for fans to connect with her on a personal level. She works hard to cultivate relationships with her fans and cites their support as a driving force in her success. "They really, really care about me and that's a beautiful feeling," Cabello said. "I think that's where it comes from of me wanting to give them the best that I can."

Cabello has some other exciting adventures on the horizon, as well, in addition to all her new music. She's partnered with Guess, which is something she's never done before. She opened up about having not always been the most fashionable kid at school when she was younger and how exciting this partnership is for her. "It feels great. For me, it's super simple when it comes to fashion," she said. "If i like something and it's different and it expresses some part of who I am and what my personality is like then I go for it."

It was great catching up with Camila Cabello to hear about everything she's got going on in her life these days. From fashion to music, there's no denying this girl is having an amazing year. We can't wait to see what's next!
