McDonald's is Taking Cheeseburgers Out of Happy Meals

McDonald's is making Happy Meals healthier. They recently announced plans to remove excess calories, saturated fat and sodium from its Happy Meal offerings. Some items are going to be removed from the Happy Meal menu such as cheeseburgers and chocolate milk. McDonald's has vowed that by 2022, at least 50 percent of its Happy Meal menu offerings in major markets across the world will limited to 600 calories or less, with only 10 percent of those calories coming from saturated fats and 10 percent from added sugar.

Also, U.S. menus will no longer offer a cheeseburger Happy Meal on its official menu, even though the item will still be available “at the customer’s request," McDonald's says. The Chicken McNugget Happy Meals will also look a little different as of June 2018, with a kids sized fries instead of the "small" that it currently included. They also plan on adding bottled water to the Happy Meals later this year.
