Because Florida is on another level of crazy, a family found an alligator hanging out in their backyard swimming pool. The thing was 10 feet long and animal control had to come take it away.
As Spring rolls in, the temperatures in Florida are steadily rising, encouraging alligators to become more active. The alligator population in the state rounds out at about 1.3 million, leaving a lot of opportunity for one to drop in on a Sunday swim.
The state warns that these animals should be treated with "caution and respect," -- so like, don't mess around with 'em. They say that swimming should only happen in marked areas in rivers and lakes as there have been several other sightings of the creatures making their way onto private property.
