Let me start this off by posing a question to you, Would you spend $5.30 for a pair of beat up, scuffed, and taped up sneakers? I don't know about you but I might... Well people are outraged because Nordstrom is selling a pair of sneakers for $530. The shoes come pre-scuffed and the front of the sneaker is wrapped in tape. Now that I definitely wouldn't pay. If we're being honest I probably wouldn't pay $530 for any brand new shoes either.
The "Superstar Taped Sneaker" is the creation of Golden Goose. You can find it on Nordstrom's website. Their website describes the shoe as "distressed." After looking into the shoes on the website I found out that they actually sell lots of different "distressed" looking shoes. I don't know how I feel about it... I enjoy "distressed" clothing such as ripped jeans and flannels but I also love the look of brand new shoes. It also stresses me out that the the sneakers cost anywhere from $235-$550!
My final conclusion is that I would never spend that much money on a pair of "distressed" sneakers.... or any sneakers for that matter.
