Starbucks Opened 'Signing Store' For Deaf Customers

Starbucks recently opened a 'Signing Store' in Washington D.C. where customers can order in American Sign Language.

Every employee that works in the new Washington DC location is either fully or partly deaf and can communicate in ASL. It also has specially designed ordering consoles and sign-language-inspired art on the walls!

During the stores grand opening, one of the country's most well-known deaf advocates, Actress Marlee Matlin, came to show support and order some Starbucks!

Starbucks says the new store is going to promote 'accessibility' as well as offer career opportunities for deaf and hearing-impaired people.

I think that this is such an awesome idea! I have taken sign language classes in both high school and college and I love the language. I think that it's really important that Starbucks created a 'Signing Store.'
