Things That Have to Happen in The TATBILB Sequel

To All The Boys I've Loved Before took the world by storm when it came out on Netflix last Summer. It was recently announced that the sequel, To All The Boys I've Loved Before 2: P.S. I Still Love You, will premiere on February 12th, 2020. In addition to that announcement, it was released that the third movie from the trilogy is in production now!

Fans of the book trilogy were happy with how true the first movie's adaptation stayed to the original book. However, it's inevitable that some things had to be left out. With the sequel coming out so soon, there are a few storylines from the book that I hope make it into the film!

  • John Ambrose McClaren

A character that HAS to have a lot of screen time in the sequel is one of the other recipients of Lara Jean's letters, John Ambrose McClaren. He's a major character in the second book (he even becomes Lara Jean's pen-pal!) and fuels a bit of tension between Lara Jean and Peter K. We only got a glimpse of him in the first movie during the post-credit scene, but the actor has since then been recasted. The new John Ambrose McClaren is Jordan Fisher, who is the perfect fit for the role. We can only keep our fingers crossed that most of his scenes make it into the film!

  • The Friends

A major part of the book trilogy is Lara Jean and Peter K's childhood friend group. Even though Genevieve was an important character, the storyline of them all being childhood friends wasn't explored much. Not only is it a major part of the second book, but they are integral to the entire trilogy. It would be interesting to see it play out in the film, especially because there's some pivotal scenes regarding them playing a group game of "Assassins."

  • The Treehouse

Lastly, one of my favorite parts about the second book were all of the chapters that took place in a treehouse that the main friend group used to hang out in as kids. This is where they all meet up for a reunion party, and it's a focal point throughout most of the book. It's also the place where the most adorable Lara Jean and Peter K scene happens, and fans need to see it in the movie!

There's no way to tell what will or will not make it into the movie, only time will tell. In the meantime, fans can keep watching the original move, reading the books and keeping up with all the actors on social media!
