Charity Newsies Event to Take Place At Columbus Intersections This Saturday

Charity Newsies

It's that time of year! The season of giving and this organization is going above and beyond to do that.

Charity Newsies is a group of local individuals who have the mission of no child being kept out of school for lack of enough clothing.

For almost 112 years, the organization has been supporting children in grades K-12 by contributing new school clothes and uniforms or uniform vouchers. They strive to give students new clothes in order for them to be comfortable and confident in pursuing an education.

Every year, the organization provides around 12,000 children with brand new clothing which includes six pairs of underwear, six pairs of socks, three shirts, three pairs of pants, a winter coat, winter hat and gloves.

In 2019, Charity Newsies had 5,537 family applicants, served 421 schools in 19 districts within Franklin County!

In total, Charity Newsies has clothed half a million school children.

This Saturday, December 14th Charity Newsies will be posted up at approximately 60 intersections across Columbus from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. where they will be selling their special edition newspaper to raise funds to help clothe students in Franklin County.

Here's an interview with Charity Newsies' Drive Chair with more insight on the organization:
