Not too sure how he is gonna accomplish this, but NYC Mayor Eric Adams has said that he's going to live on a $10 a day diet. The statement comes as he announced the expansion of a healthy eating initiative on Monday, Feb 7th.
"In a few weeks, I'm going to have Rachel (Atcheson) put through a program where I'm going to live off of $10 a day by eating a healthy, plant-based diet," said Adams from Kings County Hospital.
Listen, it's pretty difficult to find places that you can actually make that a reality...one's best bet is probably to cook meals at home. If you're looking for some cheap eats in NYC...here are some dope spots!
$4 rice bowl at Joe's Steam Rice Roll in Flushing
The Cantonese specialty is a fan favorite. It’s available with fillings like beef, pork, shrimp, and curry fish ball...and if you're not near the one in Flushing, hit up the location in SoHo or the Upper East Side.
$6 Arepa de choclo at Arepa Lady in Jackson Heights
The restaurant started as a food cart & is now a brick-and-mortar shop still specializing in arepas and other Colombian eats. A bunch of its menu items are under $10, and the cheese arepa de choclo is $6.
$10 Jerk chicken at Pepas Jerk Chicken
Normally you can't find this much grub for this low of a price. Peppa’s Jerk Chicken, however, hooks up this perfectly seasoned bird and it's not gonna leave a sting in your pocket. They've got a $10 option that's available with a salad, cabbage or French fries.
So if Mayor Eric Adams claims that he's gonna be able to eat on a $10 a day diet...these might be some of the places, to help you. Thanks to TIME OUT NYC there are a bunch of cheap eat spots your tastebuds & pockets will be happy you chose!
