Christina Aguilera opened up about her relationship with her body admitting she wasn’t happy when she was “super skinny” early in her career.
“I think we all have our good days and our bad days in how we feel about ourselves,” she tells “Health” magazine. “Entering this business, I hated being super skinny. Once I turned 21, I started filling out a little bit, and I was loving my new curves.”
She adds, “I have a hard time looking at the early pictures of myself because I remember feeling so insecure.”
Christina says her twenties are something she’d never want to live again, explaining, “you’re so in your own head and finding your confidence.” She adds, “As you age, you stop comparing yourself to other people and start appreciating your own body and owning it.”
Finally she notes, “Accepting yourself is what beauty is really about…being able to feel really good about who’s staring back at you in the mirror, because you’re owning all of it.”
All I ever wanted was to be skinny like Christina. I thought she had the "perfect" body. It's incredibly eye opening to read that what I viewed as a positive she saw as a negative. The body I wished for, she hated.
Loving yourself and accepting yourself just the way you are is a journey and I guess we're all really just doing the best we can.
