Washington, D.C.’s iconic cherry blossoms reached the 2025 peak bloom on Friday, March 28th! Peak Bloom occurs when 70% of the blossoms of the Yoshino cherry trees, the most common type along the Tidal Basin, are open.
However, the Tidal Basin isn't the only place you can see the cherry blossoms. Casey Trees, a nonprofit that plants and cares for trees in the city, provides a map of where to see the blossoms across Washington. The organization said the map does not include trees on private properties.
According to National Park Service's website:
"The Yoshino trees typically bloom for a period of several days. The length of the blooming period depends on weather conditions. Cool, calm weather can extend the length of the bloom, and a rainy, windy day can bring an abrupt end to the ephemeral blossoms. A late frost can prevent the trees from blooming at all."
